Claire Ferrell
Vice President of Membership
Recruitment
Dear Potential New Members,
My name is Claire Ferrell and I am Delta Zeta’s VP of Recruitment and Membership for the 2026 year! I have been a member of Delta Zeta since freshman year and it is truly one of the best decisions I have ever made. I have been surrounded with nothing but love, compassion, and true friendships. I am thankful everyday to be in such a sweet sisterhood as DZ!
When I first came to UNCW, I was unsure about greek life, but I decided to go to Meet the Greeks to check it out. Talking to girls of Delta Zeta felt like talking to best friends and convinced me to go through recruitment. I have never looked back since and have found my home amongst these true sisters. They have been my biggest support system and encouragers.
I am honored to now hold our VP of Membership position and to have 94 girls uplifting me in it! I am so excited for Delta Zeta to meet all of you, we all can’t wait! I highly recommend joining the Panhellenic community at UNCW! Please reach out to me if you have any questions regarding recruitment or Delta Zeta. My email is lcf9910@uncw.edu.
With Steadfast Love,
Claire Ferrell
Round 1: Academics
The first round of primary formal recruitment is focused on a sorority's academics. Delta Zeta values learning and success in the classroom. We enjoy hosting study groups at places around campus like the library and the hub. Our Academic Chair sets up group chats between the sisters based on their majors so girls can ask each other for help in their classes. We also have traditions like A Box and Smarty Pants of the Week at our weekly chapter meetings to celebrate academic victories of our sisters.

Round 2: Philanthropy
The second round of primary formal recruitment teaches potential new members about each sorority's philanthropy organization. Delta Zeta's national philanthropic partner is Starkey Hearing Foundation. As a chapter, we put on percentage nights and tabling events on campus throughout the academic year. We also host annual events like Boot Scootin' BBQ, Pink-goes-Green Week for Earth Day, and Roseball in October. Our girls are also required to meet a semester quota of service hours.
Round 3: Sisterhood
The third round of primary formal recruitment shows off a sorority's sisterhood. Friendship and Sisterhood are key values of Delta Zeta. From coffee dates to study sessions to spring break trips, our girls build true sisterly connections through our time together. Every fall, we take the chapter on a sisterhood retreat so our newest members can bond with older girls. Our Sisterhood chair also plans events throughout the year like paddle boarding, workout classes, and walks on the loop that sisters can attend together.

Round 4: Preference

The final round of primary formal recruitment is Preference. This round is sacred to each chapter and allows new members to hear testimonies from sisters on why they chose their sorority and what it means to them. During this round, true connections between sisters and potential new members are strengthened and this is when a potential new member will realize where they feel most at home. This is often an emotional round for Delta Zeta as our sisters reflect on their own recruitment experience and share how joining Delta Zeta has impacted them.
